Interactive Masterclass Open Banking - 8 June

In the Interactive Masterclass on Open Banking both dr. Markos Zachariadis and Professor Hans Berends will prepare you to take the lead in this transition towards open banking. We will go beyond the common industry knowledge and delve into the challenges around platform and innovation ecosystems origination and development to identify the issues as well as opportunities in this new banking paradigm. In addition, we will explore the strategic responses in this new competitive landscape.

The seminar of Prof. dr. Marjolein Lips-Wiersma is scheduled on June 12, 12.30-13.30 in the pantry of the 4th floor.

Deadline call for papers conference "Reshaping Work" - 15 June
Reshaping Work is an international and multidisciplinary conference that will be held 25th & 26th of October 2018 in Amsterdam, and offers a vibrant space to collectively rethink work in the platform economy. Those wishing to participate in the conference by presenting a research paper are requested to submit an extended abstract (around 800 words) by June 15, 2018. More information can be found here.
 
PhD Research Seminar Iina Ikonen - 12 June

KIN Talk Re-framing Luxury for Millennials - 15 June
Martin Johnston (founder of Crafted Society; www.craftedsociety.com) presents his and his wife’s pioneering approach towards transparency, ethics, sustainability, and social responsibility in their luxury sneaker and accessories brand. He will explain how they have embraced the digital world to sell their products and build an online community and fan base.

ABRI Barbecue - 12 June
The academic year is coming to an end and ABRI will organize a barbecue to celebrate this successful year!

The barbecue will take place on June 12th, after the last ABRI Research Seminar, at 17:00 h, in the Tuinzaal (W&N Building – use entrance 1081). The members of the ABRI community are all invited, we’ll share good food, drinks and relaxed and funny moments.

Jos Akkermans Elected for Leadership Track of the Academy of Management Careers Division
After having served as the newsletter editor for the Careers Division of the Academy of Management for the past 3 years, and taking part in several committees (e.g., executive team nominations, best paper awards, division reputation), Jos Akkermans was recently elected for the leadership track of the Careers Division (+/- 900 members). The leadership track entails a 5-year commitment consisting of several leadership roles, including PDW chair (being responsible for the professional development workshop program of the division at the 2019 AOM conference), program chair (being responsible for the entire CAR program of the 2020 AOM conference) and division chair (leading the division in 2021-2022).
 
The leadership track is a prestigious position in the Academy of Management, which is the largest management community of scholars worldwide.

Jos will officially start as the PDW chair of the Careers Division during the Academy of Management conference in Chicago, in August 2018. He is extremely honored and happy to start with this new role and looking forward to continue working with the executive team of the Careers Division, and to offer a great experience for its members both during and after the annual conference. ‘De Management Ideeënfabriek’ in top 4 of OoA
The book ‘De management Ideeënfabriek’ (the Management Ideas Factory) by Stefan Heusinkveld has been shortlisted by the OoA (the formal professional association of consultants) as the book of the year 2017. It has been nominated with 9 other books around the 9th of April. It has been shortlisted with three others around 1st of May. Last Tuesday the winner has been announced: "Handboek Teamcoaching" by Martijn Vroemen.
 
Heusinkveld's book is about the origins of management ideas and how they are developed by consultants and gurus. It provides a look behind the scenes of the emergence of influential ideas such as the BCG matrix, the 7S model, Total Quality Management (TQM), the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Lean Management, Agile Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Order of Organizational Experts and Advisors (Ooa) is a Dutch professional organization for management consultants founded in 1940.
In addition to advocacy, the Ooa is involved in, among other things, facilitating professional practice, with quality assurance, drawing up codes of conduct, organizing events and publishing publications. Since 2010 they offer online "The canon of the consulting profession", which gives an overview of the historical development of the organizational advice profession.
