The Organization Sciences (ORG) department cordially invites you to the Eat & Meet research seminar on “Death of the Salesman, but not the Sales Force: Reputational Entrepreneurship and the Efficiency of Scientific Valuation” by Professor Ezra Zuckerman Sivan from MIT (US). Prof. Zuckerman’s talk takes place on Thursday February 21 from 12:00-13:00 in HG 8A-20. Lunch will be provided.

Albert J. Menkveld moderates an informal discussion and gives a presentation to PhD students and junior faculty on what it takes to be successful in academia (as a scholar in finance/economics). This will be on 22 February from 12:15 till 13:15 in room 5A-16. He will take these slides as inspiration. Lunch will be provided. |

ABRI Seminar Timothy A. Judge - 22 February |
Timothy A. Judge will give a talk entitled ‘What’s the matter with leadership?’ at the VU on the 22nd of February at 12h (HG 1D-06). Timothy A. Judge is the Joseph A. Alutto Chair in Leadership Effectiveness, and Executive Director of the Fisher Leadership Initiative, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University. His publication of 85 articles in top-tier journals (out of 20,059 authors) is the most in the 100-year history of management research. In his talk, Timothy A. Judge will critically appraise the state of leadership research today, and will propose an agenda for future leadership research. Florian Zapkau Visiting Research Fellow King's College London |
As of February 2019 Florian Zapkau has been appointed visiting research fellow at King's College in London. |

Florian is an Assistant Professor of International Business at the School of Business and Economics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Before joining the VU, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Düsseldorf, Germany. Florian obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Giessen, Germany, in 2013. Prior to becoming a researcher, he co-founded a university startup firm.

Deadline call for papers EAWOP Small Group Meeting |
The European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology have been successful in obtaining funding for an Small Group Meeting (SGM) on the “Antecedents of Work Design”. The meeting will take place at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, 3-4 of June, and will combine paper presentations, group discussions, and a keynote address from Prof. Sharon Parker. |

The organizers hope that this Small Group Meeting will provide an opportunity for scholars to come together and discuss ideas, ongoing projects, and stimulate collaborative research on the factors that shape the quality of work design in contemporary organizations. They invite all interested scholars to check our full call for papers here and submit an abstract before the March 15th deadline. The EAWOP is confident that this event will provide a great environment for open, critical and inspiring discussions, that will move the field further. |
