New course: Developing Theories About the Social World - A Dynamic Systems Perspective

Only 10 days left to sign up for the new course ‘Developing Theories About the Social World: A Dynamic Systems Perspective’! The social world around us is complex and dynamic. In order to understand the social world and manage it effectively we need theories that can account for this complexity and dynamism.

ABRI researchers Jesse Vullinghs, Omar Solinger, and Edina Doci developed a theory building course for the Gradute Winter School of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) in which they teach the Dynamic Systems (DS) approach as an alternative to studying and understanding the social world.

Although, the DS approach has already found its way into the social sciences, they feel its potential has not been fully unleashed yet. This one-week course is composed of amongst others a visit the Systems Lab and interactive seminars, with the aim to teach you how to leverage the DS approach to develop new theories and understanding about the social world.

This course is available to Graduates, PhD-students, and practitioners who want to operate from a strong theoretical background. For more information about our visit to the systems lab and the course in general, please click here.
