Abstract Submission Deadline Entrepreneurship as Practice Conference - 16 December

The 5th version of this conference aims to advance our understanding of entrepreneurship-aspractice, foster network ties, facilitate collaborative writing relationships, and build a strong community of practice scholars. The Conference will be hosted by the Vrije Universiteit and will be held over three full days, March 31st- April 2nd. 

All those are interested to attend the conference should submit an abstract (of approximately 1,000 words) by December 16, 2019 to eap5vu@gmail.com. Abstracts should not exceed two single-spaced pages, and may not exceed the maximum limit of 1,000 words. More information can be found here and here

 
ARCA Seminar Joe Brazel - 18 December

Joe Brazel (North Carolina State University) will hold an ARCA research seminar,  titled "Data Analytics and Skeptical Actions: The Countervailing Effects of False Positives and Consistent Rewards for Skepticism" on 18 December.

Sergey Gorbatov successfully defended his dissertation
On 9 December Sergey Gorbatov successfully defended his dissertation titled "Personal branding: Self-presentation in contemporary careers".
 
With over 15 years of professional experience, Sergey Gorbatov delivered results in diverse HR roles at multinationals like AbbVie, PMI, and Shell. Sergey earned his university degree in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication at Orel State University in Russia, complemented with an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. He teaches, speaks and writes about the complex science of human performance while keeping it simple. His most recent book is “FairTalk: Three Steps to Powerful Feedback”.
 
Maaike Hoogeboom successfully defended her dissertation
On December 11 Maaike Hoogeboom successfully defended her dissertation titled "Optimizing routes with service time window constraints".
 
Maaike Hoogeboom (1991) obtained her BSc (2012) and MSc (2014) degrees in Mathematical Sciences at Utrecht University. In 2014, she started her PhD at the School of Business and Economics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. During her PhD, she did a research visit at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since February 2019, Maaike works as a data scientist at Achmea.

Workplace diversity
Together with Jeffrey A. Flory, Andreas Leibbrandt and Olga Stoddard our colleague Christina Rott has published an article titled "Increasing Workplace Diversity: Evidence from a Recruiting Experiment at a Fortune 500 Company" in the Journal of Human Resources. The authors used a natural field experiment to test several hypotheses on effective means to attract minority candidates for top professional careers. For the abstract please click here.
 
Enhancing Rigor in Quantitative Entrepreneurship Research
