next2 CCA Next 5 and Opening of the Liquid Biopsy Center
More than 100 VUmc and AMC staffmembers were in attendance at the fifth CCA Next meeting on 2 October. Prior to this event researchers attended an interesting symposium to mark the occasion of the opening of the Liquid Biopsy Center. The symposium was entitled 'Meet the experts in translational biomarker research’.Tom Würdinger, Ruud Brakenhoff, Michiel Pegtel and Maarten Bijlsma presented their liquid biopsy research. This was also the theme of the CCA Next meeting. The event started with the official opening of the Liquid Biopsy Center (see photo and film), a joint effort of AMC and VUmc. Keynote speaker Nitzan Rosenfeld from Cancer Research UK Cambridge shared his experience with biomarkers an liquid biopsies. CCA’s Junior Talent Tessa Le Large talked about ‘future perspectives on diagnostics from one tube of blood’. She also uses the biobank for pancreatic cancer research. Tessa believes in collaboration and the use of a combination of biomarkers. Anneke Koster from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences was the final speaker at CCA Next. She spoke on the topic of crime scene diagnostics.
