Appointment of the next ABRI Visiting professors
Each year, the Amsterdam Business Research Institute (ABRI) offers one-year Visiting Professor positions (0.2 FTE) for distinguished international researchers in the field of business administration.
The Visiting Professor positions are offered by the School of Business and Economics (SBE) of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), and are specifically connected to the research activities of ABRI. The purpose of the Visiting Professors appointments is to stimulate development of new research on the topics relevant to the appointed professor.

For the year 2021 the appointed visitings professors are:
Markus Baer, Xavier Castañer and Zachary Estes

Prof. Markus Baer (USA)
Research track: Organisational Behaviour
Markus Baer is an Associate Professor (with tenure) of Organizational Behavior at the Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis (USA).

Xavier Castañer (SUI)
Research track: Strategy & Entrepreneurship
Xavier Castañer is a Full professor of the Strategy Department, HEC Lausanne, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Lausanne (SUI).

Zachary Estes (USA)
Research track: Marketing
Zachary Estes is currently a Full professor of the Marketing Department at Bocconi University (IT).

Dung Nguyen wins Best Paper Award CSCMP
On Sunday, September 20, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) opened its annual EDGE virtual conference by presenting several prestigious awards to honor its supply chain professional members who have contributed to the advancement and betterment of the industry. During the CSCMP’s Virtual Academic Research Symposium the 2020 Bernard J. LaLonde Best Paper Award, given to the most valuable paper published in the Journal of Business Logistics (JBL), was awarded to Dung H. Nguyen, Sander de Leeuw, Wout Dullaert and Bram P.J. Foubert for their paper, “What is the Right Delivery Option for You? Consumer Preferences for Delivery Attributes in Online Retailing.”
The article has been part of Dung. H. Nguyen's dissertation.
Dung H. Nguyen (PhD VU Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) is a Vice Dean at the Faculty of International Economic Relations, University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), where he also lectures in logistics and supply chain management. Dung's research investigates the relationship between consumer behavior and order fulfillment in online retailing. Dung obtained a Master of Science in Transport and Maritime Economics at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Before joining academia, he worked in operations and logistics positions for several companies such as Vietnam Airlines, APL Logistics, and OOCL Logistics.

Since 1963, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) has been the leading worldwide professional association dedicated to education, research, and the advancement of the supply chain management profession. With more than 8,500 members globally, representing business, government, and academia from 65 countries, CSCMP members are the leading practitioners and authorities in the fields of logistics and supply chain management.
Emilia Bunea successfully defended her thesis
On September 22 in an online session Emilia Bunea defended her thesis titled "Leading and Leisure: How serious leisure influences leaders’ development and effectiveness".
Emilia Bunea is a corporate leader with over 15 years of experience as CFO and then CEO of multinational corporations, currently serving on the supervisory boards of several organizations. She has delivered guest lectures at universities and keynote addresses at corporate and industry events in over 10 countries around the world. Her TEDx talk “Why leaders should take their leisure seriously” has been met with wide acclaim. She is a marathon runner and a mother of two.
