CCA is proud to announce a € 1.000.000 investment into a series of competitive travel grants and innovation projects. Besides 8 travel grants, 4 large investments are made into the three programs that will allow our research to excel further. These are:

- CRISPR platform
- Liquid biopsy center
- Ambulatory patient outcome assessment platform
- Organization of clinical trial support

These initiatives will receive between 150.00 and 300.000 euros for the next 3 years to provide an infrastructure that will benefit these research domains.

Around 25 AMC and 100 VUmc co workers attented the fourth CCA Next gathering last June 27. Sanne van Neerven explained the CRISPR-CAS9 gene editing technique. Louis Vermeulen talked about his bloopers in research and there was an interesting discussion about the benefits of failures in research.
Although key note speaker Peter Frankopan barely made it to Amsterdam because of a storm above London, he inspired the crowd with an out of the box lecture which showed parallels between research in the field of history and oncology. He confronted the public with the tunnel vision of the Western world.
Piano player Michiel Borstlap created pleasant musical intermezzos.

On June 1st Alpe d'Huzes turned orange again. A team of CCA researchers conquered the mountain to recruit funds for cancer research.

CCA got a brand new device: the Covaris ME220. A luxurious, fast and accurate ultra sounds guided DNA shredder. It'll save technician who work with NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) a lot of time. Especially because this device can handle 8 samples at one time. All CCA co-workers are welcome to use this shredder.

Louis Vermeulen (AMC) obtained the New York Stem Cell foundation award (€1.5 million for 5 years)
