Marleen Huysman hosts two workshops during VSNU Conference 'Digital Society' |
In our digital age, we are confronted with many challenges as digitalisation is affecting every aspect of modern life: How we store and protect our personal information, how we measure our health and quality of life, and how we work and collaborate within and across public and private organisations.
Digitalisation often has unforeseen effects, which raises many questions for organisations and for researchers: What does digital innovation mean for how I manage my organisation, how do I organise for digital innovation and how do I integrate digital innovation in my existing organisation? What ethical considerations come up? What does the future of work look like when we outsource our knowledge to algorithms? We need a strong community to develop new strategies for human-centred solutions to create a resilient future of work.
In 2018, the VSNU – the Dutch Collective of Collaborating Universities – developed the Digital Society Research Agenda. The ambition of the VSNU with this agenda is to make the Netherlands a leader in digitalisation in society within 10 years by bringing together more than 30 professors from their respective fields. We are excited to announce the Digital Society Conference on November 27. During the VSNU conference prof. Marleen Huysman (one of the spearheads for the conference subtheme ‘Work & Organisation’; Head of the KIN Center for Digital Innovation, VU), will host two workshops. |

|
Workshop 1: “Researching digitalisation in work and organizations: Creating connections across boundaries”: Prof. Marleen Huysman (one of the subtheme spearheads) will kick-off the meeting, after which we explore each researcher’s expertise and identify together how we are complementary in our research interests. Thereby, we lay the groundwork for future interdisciplinary collaborations.
Workshop 2: “What are the challenges of working and organising in a digital society?”: We start the workshop with an introduction of the human-centred solutions by prof. Marleen Huysman (one of the subtheme spearheads). Then we will break into roundtables, where researchers, organisations and industry discuss together the challenges that organisations face and what they need to solve them.
As a researcher why should you join? - Create a more diverse network among Dutch researchers across disciplines. - Build consortia among knowledge institutions, private partners, governments and citizens. - Learn about the challenges faced by organisations surrounding the digitalisation of work and organisations.
As a societal partner, why should you join? - Identify shared interests around digitalisation in work and organisation. - Build connections for future collaboration with relevant stakeholders from knowledge institutions, private partners, and governments. - Learn from challenges faced by other organisations. - Help shape the research agenda of the Dutch universities.
