Na het vertrek van Bart Noordam is Kareljan Schoutens de nieuwe decaan van UvA-FNWI en daarmee toegetreden tot de bouwdecanen. Kareljan zat eerder in de werkgroep Onderzoek. Die is nu aangevuld met twee nieuwe UvA-medewerkers: prof. dr. Stan Bentvelsen en prof. dr. Joost Reek.

| Two new members working group Research |
 After the departure of Bart Noordam, Kareljan Schoutens became the new dean of UvA-FNWI and thus joined the Building Team of Deans. Kareljan was earlier part of the working group Research, which is now complemented by two new UvA staff members: Prof. Stan Bentvelsen and Prof. Joost Reek.

| Verkenning bacheloropleidingen AFS van start |
De werkgroep Onderwijs heeft acht subgroepen advies gevraagd over de bachelor onderwijsportefeuille van de Amsterdam Faculty of Science. Deze subgroepen verkennen de samenwerking tussen de bestaande opleidingen bij FEW, FALW en FNWI en de mogelijkheden voor nieuwe initiatieven.

| Review of AFS Bachelor’s programmes underway |
The Education working group has asked eight sub-groups for recommendations concerning the educational portfolio for Bachelor’s programmes at the Amsterdam Faculty of Science. These sub-groups will explore collaborative ties among the existing programmes at FEW, FALW and FNWI as well as new initiatives in this area. Read more |

| Vierde AFS-werkgroep ingesteld: Onderwijsadministratiesystemen |
| De afgelopen periode is onderkend dat naast de inspanningen binnen de werkgroepen Onderwijs en Bedrijfsvoering de bouw van AFS gebaat is bij gerichte aandacht voor de Onderwijsadministraties en in het bijzonder de IT-systemen die deze ondersteunen. | It has recently been determined that, in addition to the efforts of the Education and Operational Management working groups, the AFS would also benefit from a focused analysis of programme administration systems, and in particular the IT systems that support them. | De afgelopen periode heeft de werkgroep Bedrijfsvoering een groot aantal onderwerpen opgepakt, van uiteenlopende aard. Voorbeelden zijn eerste verkenningen van de opties op het vlak van de financiën, de ‘personele entiteit’ en over het organiseren van de dienstverlening door de centrale universitaire organisaties. | Mapping the ‘Operational Management Landscape' |
The Operational Management working group has recently been addressing a large number of issues in a variety of fields. Examples include an initial evaluation of options concerning finances, the ‘personnel entity’ and the organisation of services by the central, university-wide organisations.

| Bijeenkomsten AFS-bouwteam oktober/ november |
| In het voorjaar is er een bouwteam gevormd bestaande uit de drie bèta decanen UvA-FNWI, VU-FEW, VU-FALW en de FNWI vice-decaan. Het Bouwteam wordt gesteund door procesmanager dr. Bart Broers. Op 25 oktober en 8 november bespreken de AFS-werkgroepen hun resultaten met het Bouwteam. Lees verder |

| Meetings AFS Building Team October/ November |
Last spring a building team has been formed with the three Science deans UvA-FNWI, VU-FEW,VU-FALW and the FNWI vice-dean. The Buiding Team is supported by process manager Dr. Bart Broers. On October 25 and November 8, the AFS working groups will discuss their results with the Building Team.
