Self-Organizing Knowledge on Enterprise Social Media - 16 March

Enterprise social media, or social technologies, have been around for quite some years now, and organizations still struggle with understanding how, when, and why these technologies may actually enhance knowledge sharing. More recent empirical research allows us to draw some interesting conclusions and during this morning seminar we will talk more about some of these insights. By drawing on a variety of studies conducted at different often multinational organizations, we will cover the different elements that may facilitate or frustrate knowledge sharing when implementing and using enterprise social media.
Friday March 16th, from 09:30 until 11:30h. Location: HG-1D12 Forum 4. Please subscribe by mailing your attendance to Nick Oostervink.

This seminar is on the occasion of the defense ceremony of Nick Oostervink that will be held at 13:45 hours.

ABRI PhD Day - 20 March

ABRI is pleased to invite you to the annual ABRI PhD Day that will take place on March 20, 2018.

This year’s PhD Day features eight ABRI PhD candidates from different disciplines, who are now halfway their PhD trajectories. During this event, they will present their work to an audience of faculty members, fellow PhD students, and a panel of selected reviewers.

This will be a great occasion to celebrate the progress that these PhD candidates have made so far, to give feedback on their work in progress, and to strengthen our multidisciplinary research community.

We hope to see you at our special day on March 20, 2018, in room HG 9A-29 (main room) and HG 9A-33 (breakout sessions), between 09:30-13:20.

To register for a half- or full-day participation, please send an email to (graduateschool.abri@vu.nl) latest on Friday, March 16.

KIN Talk The power of blockchain - 23 March
The concept is simple. KINTalks is an event where inspiring practitioners are invited to talk about their work experience in the field of innovation, digital technology, business and/or design. Key here is sharing knowledge and firing up debate. It seems that there are (too) little moments where academics and practitioners meet. KINTalks helps: 1) to encourage a conversation around shared interests; 2) to learn from each other and 3) to network and nurture lasting relationships. Overall, it is an opportunity to get inspired and energized.

Topic: Arjan Bartlema and Ad Rietberg will share their experiences with Blockchain. Arjan Bartlema, an expert in cryptocurrency, will introduce the blockchain technology. Ad Rietberg is part of the team that developed Agri-Wallet, an innovative mobile business account and recent winner of the Accenture Innovation Awards.

The talks will take place at VU University Amsterdam (Main building, De Boelelaan 1105, 5th floor) from 16:30 till 17:30. Please note that participation in KIN Talks is free of charge, but registration for KIN Talks is required.

Please register here when you would like to join the KIN Talk. If you have further inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact KIN (kintalks.feweb@vu.nl).

New Programme Director for Research Master Business in Society

It is with great pleasure that the SBE Board and ABRI jointly with the Graduate School of Business from UvA can announce that Philipp Tuertscher has been appointed as programme director of our joint research master Business in Society. The SBE Board is happy that they have found Philipp prepared to contribute his ideas and effort to further develop this important programme and increase its attractiveness to students. Positioning the programme and the way we communicate it to potential students in the Netherlands and beyond will be one of his most important challenges.

The SBE Board and ABRI also wishes to express its gratitude to Philipp’s predecessor, Maura Soekiad, who completed her term as programme director and will now direct her energy towards helping develop the new Master Digital Business and Innovation.

We wish both good luck and much satisfaction in fulfilling their new role and have all confidence in their success.
