Welcome drink Arjen van Witteloostuijn - 2 February
On 1 February Arjen van Witteloostuijn will start as dean of the School of Business and Economics. To mark his arrival we organize a drink to welcome him. We are happy to invite you to join this occasion. Arjen will introduce himself, and naturally there will be ample opportunity for informal contact and meeting him after his introduction.

The welcome drink will take place on 2 February from 4 PM in the pantry on the 8th floor. We hope to see you then.
Research Seminar Xavier Castañer - 8 February

Renowned researcher Prof. Xavier Castañer (Professor of Strategy at Université de Lausanne and VP External Relations EURAM) will pay a visit to the M&O department on February 8th. We will have an extended Research Seminar session with him from 11:00 to 13:30 in the pantry on the 4th floor. The session will consist of two parts:

1) 11:00 - 12:30: Research pitches: department members have the opportunity to present an ongoing paper project in 5-10 minutes to him and the other audience members and receive valuable feedback
2) 12:30 - 13:30: Paper presentation: Prof. Castañer will present a paper entitled "Alliances’ Governance Choices: Make, Buy, Ally, or 'Coopt'?"

Seminar Joan Rodón Mòdol - 2 February

ABRI would like to invite you to a seminar given by Dr. Joan Rodón Mòdol (ESADE Business School) about “Governing the reuse of personal data in healthcare: A commons-centric approach”.

Anna Konobelkina new Programme Assistant

I am Anna and I am the new ABRI Programme Assistant.


Before moving to Amsterdam, I studied at the Philipps University of Marburg (M.A. program in Linguistics and Web Technology with Specialization in eLearning) and worked in the Natural Language Processing field as well for the Central Administration of the University of Stuttgart in Germany.

I am looking forward to working at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and hope to contribute to the ABRI’s further progress.

Marjolein Roozeboom new M&O secretary
Marjolein Roozeboom started as a secretary at the M&O secretarial office today. She will be working together with Sylvia.
Marjolein Roozeboom has worked as a ‘employee student affairs’ for the postgraduate courses Management Consulting VU for nearly 20 years. Previously she worked as a PA to a board advisor for about 10 years and before that she had various jobs in the corporate sector. She was trained as an English teacher. She is married, has a daughter and lives in Amstelveen.
Jos Akkermans interviewed by BNR Radio
On Tuesday the 30th of January Jos Akkermans was interviewed in the BNR radio programme "Werkverkenners" presented by Rens de Jong.
They discussed the question: does everyone need to be proactive at the workplace? During the interview it has been discussed what proactivity really is and if one really needs to be proactive.
