Is sweat the ideal outcome for diabetics?

Blood sampling to determine your blood sugar several times a day.
It is an everyday occurence for diabetics. But if it is up to Dr Elizabeth von Hauff (GlucoEasy, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), it will no longer be necessary in the future. She is developing a new measurement technique that goes beyond biochemical sensors.
In the Demonstrator Lab at the VU, von Hauff works together with students on the project. "Demonstrator Lab is a safe place where I can work with a number of students on our project, involving many professors and entrepreneurs who give us advice and help with matters such as a patent application. Also, because of the financing we have received, there is no personal financial risk and we can focus on the research without pressure to publish papers." With respect to the last topic, Prof. Gert-Jan Gruter mentioned that if we continue this way, the ratio fish to plastic will be 1:1 in 2050. Here, the major challenge is to develop new materials (for re-use) from sustainable renewable feedstock! Read more.

Each table had a specific domain to focus on: energy transition, public health, crime, and market stability. Additionally, the guests pondered the overarching topic: complexity and responsible policy/governance.
