The PhD Research Seminar of Jesse Vullings has been cancelled.
ABRI Barbecue - 11 June

The academic year is coming to an end and ABRI will organize a barbecue to celebrate this successful year!

The barbecue will take place on June 11 at 17:00 hrs, in the Tuinzaal (W&N Building – use entrance 1081). The members of the ABRI community are all invited, we’ll share good food, drinks and relaxed and funny moments.

CIGAR Conference 13/14 June
The 17th Biennial Conference of the Comparative International Governmental Accounting Research (CIGAR) Network will be held at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, on 13 and 14 June. This conference is jointly organized by the CIGAR Network, the Amsterdam Research Center in Accounting and the Zijlstra Center for Public Control, Governance & Leadership. The organizing committee consists of Tjerk Budding (chair), Tom Groot, Bram Faber, Vinitha Siebers, and Patrizia Abinta.

NWO doctoral grant for teachers awarded to PhD-candidate at Management & Organisation
NWO awarded a doctoral grant to Lise-Lotte Geutjes-Bambang Oetomo, who is a part time PhD student at the department of Management & Organisation and also a teacher and researcher at the University of Applied Sciences Leiden.
 
Her supervisors are dr. Janneke Oostrom, prof. dr. Paul Jansen, and dr. Saniye Çelik. This NWO doctoral grant allows teachers to gain research experience in order to improve the quality of education and to strengthen the ties between universities and schools. Lise-Lotte examines the role of leadership (interventions) in the creation of inclusive work environments at the Dutch police. The NWO grant ensures the continuation of her research for the upcoming 5 years. For more information please click here.
 
Introducing our new colleague Eva Oikonomou
On Monday, Eva Oikonomou (pronounced Economou) started in the role of Programme Manager at the Department of Management and Organisation.
 
She will be working with Svetlana Khapova, Brian Tjemkes, Oli Mihalache and Niki Konijn on the new Executive Education programmes and on tasks that pertain to their accreditation reports, communication, info session organization, as well as processing of financial reports. Eva is from Greece and her work experience has been in the higher education field during which she has worked in the administrations of Harvard Medical School and MIT Economics PhD Program.

Jochem Hummel successfully defended his thesis

On 5 June Jochem Hummel successfully defended his thesis titled "Collaboration and innovation between heterogeneous actors".

Jochem Hummel was born in Amsterdam on September 4, 1990. He holds a Master of Science in Strategic Management from the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (2014, cum laude). In September 2014, he started a PhD at the KIN Center for Digital Innovation (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) on collaboration and innovation between heterogeneous actors. Since September 2018, Jochem is working as an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems Management Group at Warwick Business School.
